I came home from work today
having listened in the car
to a really unfortunate Zoom meeting.
Many jobs are in jeopardy.
I’m hoping mine isn’t one of them.

knowing my sister had left
a little something
in my mailbox
on her way home from work.
I came home from work today
to find a new shirt
with the words
“autism mama”
emblazoned on them
in rainbow vinyl.
I came home from work today
needing a little sunshine
and there it was
hiding in my mailbox.
I came home from work today
grateful
that my sister possesses that skill
to put sunshine on a t-shirt.
I came home from work today
proud and excited
to be an autism mama
and
of my new shirt
and wondering how soon
I can get away with wearing it at work.
